I, Lindsay Wagner, am a freelance translator operating as a sole trader in the United Kingdom. As the “data controller” as defined in the applicable data protection laws (including the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679, for as long as this is effective in the UK), I take your data privacy very seriously and take suitable measures to protect it, as outlined in the following Privacy Policy. If you have any questions regarding this Policy, please contact me (e-mail: lindsay_wagner_translations@mail.com, telephone +44 (0)7773 709423).

WHY I PROCESS YOUR PERSONAL DATA

Personal data is collected, stored and used solely for the purposes of issuing a quote, providing translation services, invoicing and accounting, or to comply with legal requirements. Examples of personal data may include your name, job title, profession, contact details, IP address, ID or tax number and bank account details. This data may be collected automatically or submitted by you in order to obtain a quote or enable the translation of your documents. I do not use your personal data for marketing purposes, nor do I disclose it to unauthorised third parties. For administrative purposes, I may share your personal data with other parties, such as my accountant, other professional advisors, and the providers of my cloud backup, website and email hosting services, in each case in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the EU General Data Protection Regulation. I may also use your contact details to advise you of my availability, absence periods or other professional changes.

HOW LONG I KEEP YOUR PERSONAL DATA

Unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law, I will only hold your data on my systems for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, or for as long as is necessary for insurance or legal purposes, or until you request that the data be deleted. Where translations are deleted at your request, I cannot be held responsible for any subsequent queries or claims relating to the content.

HOW I PROTECT YOUR DATA

Data is stored on a password-protected notebook with anti-virus software installed and regularly updated. If you suspect any misuse, loss of or unauthorised access to your data, please contact me immediately. In the event of a security breach of personal data, I undertake to notify the Information Commissioner’s Office without undue delay.
YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to access, correct, erase and restrict my use of your data, to withdraw your consent to the processing of your data, the right to data portability (i.e. to request that I move, copy or transfer your data), and the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority. For the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at https://ico.org.uk. If you would like to invoke any of these rights or have any other queries or concerns, please contact me and I will respond promptly.
